MERCEDES EVOLUTION I

We have included the forerunner to the ultimate Limited Edition Evo II simply because of their rarity and also that they do come cheaper than the be-winged and much more advanced Evo II.

The Evo I, nicknamed the Bouncing Baby Benz, was shown to the world in March 1989 and from mid-May was used in the DTM series.

To qualify the car for the Motor Sports, in black and white terms, 500 Evo I's had to hit the streets, which they did with great success. All 500 were in Blue Black Metallic although there are claims that, allegedly, one or two pre-production models were in Smoke Silver, as, incidentally, with the Evo II.

Not withstanding, the Evo I is a vastly superior car to the already fabled 190 2.3 and 2.5 16V Cosworth and is a surefire collectors item. The body is not nearly so radical as the Evo II which is too outrageous for some tastes.
